PBRC Care-a-Thon Telethon
Dramatic stories of hope and transformation are profiled and lives are changed as a result of PBRC’s televised Care-a-Thon. The annual event raises awareness and much-needed funds with the generous help of CBS 7 and Care-a-Thon sponsors. This extraordinary support helps make it possible for PBRC to serve those in need of rehabilitation services regardless of their financial circumstance.
Give a Hand to Help
The people of our region have demonstrated unrivaled generosity toward PBRC. This is especially true of the new “Helping Hand” program. Leaders of the Permian Basin business community developed “Helping Hand” to respond to the ever-growing needs of the children and adults that the Center serves. Simply visit a participating restaurant, business or organization of your choice during the month of January, make a $2 donation to the Permian Basin Rehab Center (PBRC) and receive a free cookie, dessert or discount card in return.
Annual Pilot Club Community Christmas Tree
The Pilot Club of Odessa was chartered in 1978 as an organization of executive, business and professional leaders working together to provide service to the community. The Community Christmas Tree began in 1985 and has become a highly-anticipated Odessa holiday tradition. With each minimum $10 donation, a light is illuminated on the tree in honor or in memory of someone special. Over the years, approximately $200,000 has been raised from the tree by the Pilot Club and donated to PBRC to provide therapy and equipment to help children and adults with disabilities reach their full potential and achieve the best possible lifestyle.
The Community Christmas Tree is located at the corner of 42nd and Grandview for the seasonal enjoyment of all. To make a contribution, call 432-332-8244.
Odessa Crystal Ball
A highlight of the holiday season each year is the Crystal Ball, which honors Odessa debutantes and escorts and raises funds to support the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center. A stated goal of the Crystal Ball Foundation board is to support rehabilitation services for children and adults to help enhance the quality of their lives and encourage them to excel and believe in themselves. An important aspect of the debutante and escort experience is volunteer work with PBRC. These young people spend time touring the facility and learning the value of community service. They help host the annual PBRC holiday party, working closely with patients to add even more joy to the season. A number of Crystal Ball debutantes and escorts have gone on to serve the Rehab Center as board members, employees and devoted financial supporters.
